Carnival Of Rust

I thought I'd be heroic and strong,
But as a kid, I was very wrong
I'd dreamt of saving the human race,
All I managed was screw up my face.
Told my pals about my cause,
But they called me the freak I was.
People told me to be practical
But my dreams built on, magical.
I'd thought of having a bit of fun
Now I can't undo the things I've done.
I realize now as I'm being blown
The time I'd wasted laughing alone.
As I stand and look back these years
I wish my eyes wouldn't well up with tears.
All I see is the setting sun
An empty sea, an emptier horizon.
